The latest confirmed development in bell foundry is that a new complaint or proposal has been entered under a dated docket. The update comes from the bell foundry above the old ceremonial stair; officials have not announced a permanent change to the rule.
Kelm Orra, sounder responsible for the city’s signal bells, confirmed 46 bells that held their assigned note after cooling in the latest file. The previous count was 46. The figures do not yet resolve whether the foundry can cast a new public bell without losing the pitch used for flood warnings.
The unresolved point is specific: The master caster says the alloy change is harmless; the signal crew says a narrow pitch shift can confuse a warning heard through stone. No finding has established that either account is final.
The current arrangement remains in place. The office has not said whether it will change before the next review.
NEXT UPDATE: The next casting will be tested from three listening posts before installation. The file will be updated when the second check is complete; until then, the confirmed record is narrower than the claims around it.
