The latest confirmed development in cliffside lift is that the first implementation notes have been compared with the promise in the minutes. The update comes from the east cliff lift between the quarry road and the upper wards; officials have not announced a permanent change to the rule.
Hessi Varn, lift master on the east ascent, confirmed 63 completed lift runs in the latest file. The previous count was 65. The figures do not yet resolve how to keep the lift available to residents while its main rope is replaced.
The unresolved point is specific: A full closure is safer and shorter; a staged closure preserves access but leaves less time for a second inspection. No finding has established that either account is final.
The current arrangement remains in place. The office has not said whether it will change before the next review.
NEXT UPDATE: The lift office will post a day-by-day access plan with the rope crew’s sign-off. The file will be updated when the second check is complete; until then, the confirmed record is narrower than the claims around it.
