The latest confirmed development in copper weight is that a field check has compared the written rule with the place where it is used. The update comes from the assay table in the Lower Market Hall; officials have not announced a permanent change to the rule.

Ola Senn, licensed copper assayer, confirmed 50 bars checked against the common weight in the latest file. The previous count was 50. The figures do not yet resolve whether the market should replace one shared standard or allow each guild to keep a certified weight.

The unresolved point is specific: Guilds say one standard hides differences in bar shape; buyers say multiple standards make a fair comparison harder. No finding has established that either account is final.

The current arrangement remains in place. The office has not said whether it will change before the next review.

NEXT UPDATE: The assay table will test both systems against the same set of bars. The file will be updated when the second check is complete; until then, the confirmed record is narrower than the claims around it.
