The latest confirmed development in east seam is that a public vote has approved a narrow change while leaving the larger question open. The update comes from the East Seam, four galleries below the old cart rail; officials have not announced a permanent change to the rule.
Uldra Ker, shift foreman on the east face, confirmed 68 soundings recorded before entry in the latest file. The previous count was 70. The figures do not yet resolve whether the new iron markers reveal movement early enough to keep crews out of a failing face.
The unresolved point is specific: The foreman calls the readings a useful warning; the survey office says the marks need a second instrument before they can justify a closure. No finding has established that either account is final.
The current arrangement remains in place. The office has not said whether it will change before the next review.
NEXT UPDATE: A second surveyor will repeat the readings from the opposite wall. The file will be updated when the second check is complete; until then, the confirmed record is narrower than the claims around it.
