The latest confirmed development in first-room keys is that the responsible office has offered a limited remedy with an end date for review. The update comes from the South Welcome House above the lower market stairs; officials have not announced a permanent change to the rule.
Bera Noll, housing advocate at the welcome desk, confirmed 50 families assigned a room before their temporary bed expires in the latest file. The previous count was 50. The figures do not yet resolve how the city assigns a first room when family size and district capacity do not line up.
The unresolved point is specific: The current list favors earlier arrival; advocates say it can split a household whose members reached the gate on different caravans. No finding has established that either account is final.
The current arrangement remains in place. The office has not said whether it will change before the next review.
NEXT UPDATE: The housing table will publish the wait by household size, not only by place in line. The file will be updated when the second check is complete; until then, the confirmed record is narrower than the claims around it.
