The latest confirmed development in shared cistern lease is that residents and workers have had their first chance to question the measure in public. The update comes from the residents’ desk at Lantern Stair House; officials have not announced a permanent change to the rule.

Toma Vesh, tenant delegate for the Lantern Stair rooms, confirmed 45 leases that name a shared repair duty in the latest file. The previous count was 45. The figures do not yet resolve whether tenants can be billed for a repair when the lease does not say how the cost is divided.

The unresolved point is specific: The landlord cites a customary duty; residents say a custom cannot replace a written amount. No finding has established that either account is final.

The current arrangement remains in place. The office has not said whether it will change before the next review.

NEXT UPDATE: The housing clerk will compare the disputed clause with the signed copies held by both sides. The file will be updated when the second check is complete; until then, the confirmed record is narrower than the claims around it.
