The latest confirmed development in stair permit is that a public vote has approved a narrow change while leaving the larger question open. The update comes from the Upper Chamber of Measures; officials have not announced a permanent change to the rule.
Eda Korrin, surveyor for the North Rise ward, confirmed 39 permit applications in the latest file. The previous count was 39. The figures do not yet resolve whether a new public stair can pass through a shared landing without closing the older route.
The unresolved point is specific: The proposed alignment shortens the climb for upper homes but leaves less turning room for freight carriers. No finding has established that either account is final.
The current arrangement remains in place. The office has not said whether it will change before the next review.
NEXT UPDATE: A second survey must test the turning radius with loaded handcarts. The file will be updated when the second check is complete; until then, the confirmed record is narrower than the claims around it.
