The salt arcade’s new price board has two weights beside each barrel: the amount released by the warehouse and the amount offered after storage. The cooperative has not changed its price formula. It has made the loss visible before a buyer accepts the posted total.

Savi Merrel matched the first entries to the warehouse issue slips. The lot marks line up for the barrels reviewed, but the records do not show whether the warehouse’s release weight had already been reduced for expected damp. The paired figures narrow the question; they do not yet settle who should carry the loss.

Yara Deth says the second column is the amount the stall can actually sell. Buyers say the first column matters because a barrel may have lost weight before the cooperative took custody. Both readings can be true at once, depending on where the loss occurred.

A buyer now has the numbers in front of them rather than in a sleeve beneath the counter. The change also makes a missing lot mark easier to notice, because a comparison cannot be followed if its first entry has no matching record.

The cooperative will review the first month of paired entries before revising its price board. For now, transparency has improved faster than agreement about the bill.
